The Q-Gardens Design Process

The process begins with listening, to fully understand the clients visions and needs.

Step 1

Initial Meeting

The first meeting is a "get to know you" visit. This gives you, the client, the opportunity to express your visions, dreams, or desires for your landscape. We will also spend some time reviewing the steps involved in creating your garden. Maryanne encourages owner participation in the process–the more of a feel that you have for the sense of garden that you wish to create, the better understanding Maryanne will have.

Step 2

Concept Sketches

With your ideas in hand, the conceptual sketches can be drawn. These are colored sketches showing different versions of your garden vision. The creative process continues as we meet to discuss the sketches, which can be combined, amended, or otherwise modified to achieve the garden layout that you desire.

Step 3

Select Plant Material

Once the overall layout has been established, the designer will select a specific plant palette to fit your particular garden. Everyone is a different type of gardener, and that should be reflected in the plant material that is selected. Maryanne takes a very thorough approach to plant selection, considering soil type, exposure, water usage and future maintenance plans.

Step 4

Prepare Drawings

At this point most of your work is done. Maryanne will create a set of plans for your new garden based on the decisions that we have made together. The plans are drawn to scale and include a conceptual drawing showing the revisions previously discussed, and a detailed planting plan for a licensed contractor to work from.

Step 5

Obtain Construction Bids

Using the plans created in the previous steps, bids can now be gathered from licensed contractors. If you don't already have a licensed contractor in mind, we can help point you in the right direction.

Step 6

Construction/Installation

This is where all the thinking and planning starts to take on three-dimensional shape. Q-Gardens is available during construction for consultation as needed or desired.

Step 7ENJOY YOUR NEW LANDSCAPE!
